1:1 Parenting support from a holistic, trauma-informed perspective.

Do you consider yourself a gentle/conscious parent and/or strive to be one? Do you often feel overwhelmed and exhausted and act towards your child/children in ways you later regret? Does your child act in ways you find frustrating? Or do you feel triggered by your child’s behavior and want your own healing journey to fully encompass your relationship with your child?

Did you know that over most of our evolutionary history, no matter where in the world people lived, children and parents lived together in peace and harmony, children were happy and free, they voluntarily cooperated, went to sleep when they were tired, shared, and became independent much sooner? Parents were able to be fully present, compassionate, intuitively knew how to parent, and didn’t feel constantly overwhelmed.

I believe we can get back to this more natural, healthy way of parenting, heal ourselves, our relationship with our children, and contribute to healthy, strong communities.

 To get there, I believe two things are necessary:

 1) We need to understand children’s evolved needs, why they are important, and how to meet them in the modern world while also meeting our own needs.

2) We need to understand how our own childhood and unmet needs have shaped us, how our triggers get in the way of being present with our children, how their behaviour is often a mirror of our own inner world, and how we can heal and grow in a way that allows us to be present and joyous with our children.

I offer 1:1 mentoring to help you to:

  • Better understand your child’s basic needs and how to meet them.

  • Create an environment where your child naturally becomes a helpful, considerate, and confident member of the family.

  • Compassionately respond to your child’s challenging, problematic behaviors that arise.

  • Better meet your own needs, as a caregiver, in the service of helping your family flourish.

  • Better understand and heal your own triggers so that you can show up as the parent you would like to be.

You can choose between two options:

1) Schedule an individual coaching session

We can add additional sessions as needed.
I can help with a variety of different issues including infant and toddler sleep, behavioral issues, anxiety, understanding and overcoming your own triggers and struggles to remain calm.

Cost: Sliding scale $55-$105 for a 50-minute session.

2) Book a 6-week package.

This offer includes an additional call/meeting 1-3 months after our meetings are completed, to address any questions/issues that have arisen since.

During the 6-week package coaching, we will cover the following (the exact content will be tailored to your specific needs and challenges):

1. SETTING GOALS

We will define your family values and goals of the coaching so that we can create an approach that is best tailored to your needs.

2. UNDERSTANDING YOUR CHILD

We will do a deeper (but accessible) dive into the science of children and use this understanding as a basis for being better able to respond compassionately and effectively to the behavior you find challenging.

3. REFRAMING YOUR CHILD’S BEHAVIOR

We will set realistic and age-appropriate expectations for your child’s behavior and reframe their behavior to ease tension and foster connection between you and your child.

4. SETTING UP THE ENVIRONMENT

Based on your specific situation, we will establish a plan for changes in the environment (such as routines, schedules, activities, home environment) to help meet everyone’s needs, foster more connection, and help achieve your goals for your family.

5. ADDRESSING CHALLENGING BEHAVIOR

We will cover specific tools to help in responding to the challenging aspects of your child’s behavior and gently move them towards more cooperation and fewer power struggles.

6. TAKING CARE OF YOURSELF

We will investigate why some of your child’s behavior may be particularly triggering for you and ways to work with these reactions.

This offer includes

  • 6 weekly Zoom calls (or in person meetings) for 50 minutes.

  • A written summary (including concrete steps you can take) after each call.

  • An extensive intake survey about your specific situation, challenges & hopes so we can make the most of our meetings.

  • An additional 50-minute Zoom call 1-3 months after the coaching is over to address any questions and/or issues that may arise.
